Thank you for joining us for our 2019 Merit Badge University and making it a success. Details about 2020 Merit Badge University are unavailable at the moment but will be up soon. MBU is hosted by Alpha Phi Omega, a service organization based on the ideals of the Scouting program.

MBU is an opportunity for Scouts to work on badges in a collegiate environment. Focusing on learning through doing with a variety of classes offered for those interested in or in need of for advancing in rank. Scouts are encouraged to come and register with their units, but individual sign ups are permitted.

About MBU

Merit Badge University brings together over 700 Scouts for a day of learning with some of the best instructors in their perspective field. This includes but not limited to actual Texas A&M Professors, Graduate students, professionals in their career, and volunteers. All of which have extensive knowledge and experience in their field and ready to share it with the Scouts in their classes.

Event Details

Registration for Scouts will be $40 and will cover a t-shirt, a patch, lunch and instructional material. Adults are asked to pay $15 to cover the cost of their lunch, t-shirt. Please note that some classes may have additional fees.

Scouts are able to participate in up to 4 merit badge courses*, which will complete most if not all requirements needed to earn badge. Scouts will leave feeling energized, and excited about what they’ve learned from their time at MBU. Check out the courses offered this year to see what your Scouts can earn at MBU!

*Depending on availability and scheduling of other courses.


Period 1: 8:30am – 10:20 am

Period 2: 10:40 am – 1:10pm

(Lunch will take place during this period)

Period 3: 1:30pm – 3:20pm

Period 4: 3:40pm – 5:30pm

Alpha Phi Omega

Alpha Phi Omega is a national service organization founded on the ideals of the Scouting program. It’s three values, leadership, friendship, and service, are what guides the program in its mission. APO has been a major part of the Texas A&M campus since 1962. As an organization we give back to the campus, the community, and to Scouting with one of the largest student lead organizations on campus boasting over 200 members and contributing over 10,000 hours of service to the community each year. Today, APO is happy to give back to the community through its servant leadership, and is excited to see the positive impact it has on the lives it touches.
